Panama Leaks Case: Supreme Court of Pakistan establishes a special section to facilitate JIT
On Tuesday, The Supreme Court of Pakistan established a special section to help the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). This is established to conduct Panama leaks case probe. In order to facilitate all the communication between JIT and Supreme Court bench, Muhammad Ali, the Additional Registrar has been appointed as the coordinator. The hearing of the case would be commenced by the bench at 1:30 pm.
The Joint Investigation Team would consist of:
- FIA officer
- A NAB representative
- An SECP officer
- A nominee of State Bank of Pakistan
- An officer from the ISI & MI
According to several sources, the Joint Investigation Team would be constituted at the earliest. This seems more authentic, as Justice Ejaz Afzal has returned from Turkey. He is a main member of the Supreme Court Bench.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has received the names of six members for comprising the Joint Investigation Team. It is confirmed that the relevant institutions have submitted the members names, who would be the part of this team. They would submit their report to the apex court, with regards to the specified deadline.
To assist the coordinator, deputy and assistant registrar would play their role. The Joint Investigation Team would submit the report to the coordinator, every 15 days. This would be a major step in the progress of the probe.
According to the verdict of SC verdict on the country’s scandalous Panama case, the JIT will investigate about the funds used by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s children. It is claimed that they buy properties in London through several offshore companies.
