Misbah & Younis retirement could put the whole team in disarray: Abdul Qadir
Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan retirement is already confirmed. They will no longer be part of Pakistan Test squad after the Test match against West Indies in Dominica. Former great legspinner Abdul Qadir has concerns about their retirement. He expresses his thoughts that their retirement could put the strong Pakistan team in disarray.
Undoubtedly, bothYounis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq are important for Pakistan cricket team. They have been known as the pillars of the team’s middle order for close to a decade. Skipper Misbah played a huge role in taking the national team to the top ranking.
Aside from the Misbah’s leadership, Younis played his role tremendously. In the last 7 years, Younis emerged as one of the best batsman for Pakistan and has broken a number of records.
Prior to the Dominica Test, both players have a combined record of 187 Test matches. Both of them scored 15261 runs as a combined pair that shows their importance in the team. Former legendary legspinner Abdul Qadir called their retirement a major gap in the team’s progress and he believes that they should not retire at the same time.
Unique Misbah and Younis Khan have eyes on the final Test milestones in the Pakistan colours. Abdul Qadir considers their move like retirement of Kumar Sangakara and Mahela Jayawardene. Their retirement causes disarray in the Sri Lankan team. He has fears that the retirement could cause problems in the Pakistan’s Test team too, as both players have been one of the greatest servants of country.
The Caribbean series is currently tied with 1-1 and Misbah is aiming to lead the country to their first ever series victory. After winning the Jamaica Test, West Indies fought back in Barbados and bowl out Pakistan strong batting lineup for just 81. A victory over West Indies would make him the first ever successful Pakistan Test captain in Caribbean.
