India wins comfortably, in their opening Champions Trophy match against Pakistan
A poor batting performance of Pakistan cricket team gave India an easy 124 run victory in their opening Champions Trophy match. Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and choose to bat against their biggest and traditional rivals. Due to India great batting performance, they gave Pakistan a target of 324 runs in 48 overs.
Playing first, the Indian strong batting lineup scored 319 for 3 in their rain affected 48 overs. The target was 324 (D/L system). With further sessions affected by rain, Pakistan had to chase 289 off 41 overs. All the Pakistan team was dismissed at just 164 in 33.4 overs.
Azhar Ali was the highest scorer with 50, but none of the top order and middle order batsman was able to mature his innings. Every batsman failed to understand the average Indian bowling. Slow left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja showed some class in the middle of Pakistan innings.
None of the players showed that they are playing in one of the biggest cricket tournaments, especially the batting was not impressive from Pakistani batsmen.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhaean combine gave a stand of 136 runs, before later was dismissed at 68 off 65 balls. Shadab Khan took the wicket of Dhawan. Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper came to one down position and showed his class from brilliant batting. He made 81 not out and made a major role in the Indian team success.
Other performers were Yuvraj Singh, 53 off 32 balls and Rohit Sharma 91 off 119 balls. The later missed the century mark, thanks to a good piece of fielding by Babar Azam.
