Babar Azam and Hasan Ali jumped up in the ODI positions
Pakistan has won the ODI series against West Indies and their young guns Babar Azam and Hasan Ali have also improved their rankings in the ODI positions. Both players are in the latest rankings after a good West Indies series.
According to official report of ICC ODI Rankings, Babar Azam is at his career’s best position after gone to the eighth spot. Babar Azam is in the top 10 after scoring 154 in the series that include a match winning century. Hasan Ali also climbed 14 positions in the ODI rankings after picked up six wickets in the successful series. At the moment, he is sitting at the 34 position.
Another Pakistani allrounder Mohammad Hafeez improve his batting position and moved to 20 in the rankings. Hafeez scored 201 runs in the ODI’s and scored 88, 32 and 81 in three matches, respectively. In the bowling category, he also jumped up to 20 places and right now holds the 27th position. The experienced all-rounder picked up three wickets in the series.
After the ODI series, both teams Pakistan and West Indies failed to build up their positions to qualify for the 2019 ICC World Cup directly. Both teams needed to whitewash each other in order to make their way stronger for the direct qualification.
The end result of ODI series was 2-1 in favor of Pakistan, but it did not affect their rankings. Pakistan cricket team remained at the number eight and West Indies are at their previous number nine rank. This series gave Pakistan just one point and their score is now 90 from 89. Only top eight teams will directly qualify for the 2019 ICC World Cup and others will have to play the WC qualifying round to make their place for the mega event.
